The strategic management of publishing rights
The invention of the term ‘Digital Rights Management’ and the ensuing debates on the subject have put a greater focus on the long-term management of decisions and activities related to the acquisition, marketing and utilization of publishing rights. Publishing rights, or, to personalize it, authors, are and will remain the beginning, middle and end link in the value creation chain, particularly for general-interest publishers.
