Klopotek accomplishes go live for ten Hagen & Stam of the Wolters Kluwer Group in record time
ten Hagen & Stam, Dutch publisher in the construction, industry and technology sector in Den Haag and Deventer, and stand-alone business unit of the Wolters Kluwer Group, managed to go live with the Klopotek Publishing Solution in record time. In five and a half months only, all three project teams - the publisher’s IT department as well as the user teams, the Klopotek teams from Germany and Amsterdam, and Klopotek’s subcontractor arvato systems from Germany - met the ambitious challenge to reorganize the publisher’s complete IT infrastructure and to replace all old systems that were in use so far. In April 2001 the decision to introduce the Klopotek Publishing Solution across Europe was taken by the Wolters Kluwer Education Group, the multinational information services company, so approximately 1,500 workstations within the group will be equipped with Klopotek software by 2005.
In September last year, Klopotek started to introduce the international address pool and the various sales and distribution systems for books, journals, and advertisements for 150 users. Besides all data had to be migrated from a very complex IT structure. Part of the publisher’s business processes such as invoice printing and delivery/shipment of products had to be outsourced, an interface to the warehouse logistic to be built. An interface solution between Klopotek and SAP MySAP was required and successfully developed by arvato systems serving not only as an adequate solution for ten Hagen & Stam - Klopotek-SAP Finance will be the standard interface compatible for all publishers’ IT systems in future.
With its Journal and Sales Distribution System JSD Klopotek has not only reorganized the sales and distribution of books, loose-leaf editions, online subscriptions for weekly and monthly magazines, but also successfully implemented the system for “Cobouw”, a daily newspaper with a circulation of 15,000 per day.
Jos Wilschut, IT director of ten Hagen & Stam, on the successful implementation of phase one of the project: "The pleasant cooperation with Klopotek has enabled us to make a success out of this project. The ease of use of the software and the strong project management was crucial to meet the steep deadlines that we set ourselves."
In a second project phase which has started meanwhile and will take another three to four months, Klopotek and ten Hagen & Stam will implement further modules, such as marketing, production and contracts, rights & royalties, for the publishing house that operates with more than 400 employees.
Klopotek has contracted arvato systems that runs worldwide IT activities and services of the Bertelsmann Group, for the implementation of SAP MySAP at two more Wolters Kluwer publishers, Nelson Thornes in the UK and Liber in Sweden.
